- EvDo RevB talks about 9Mbps down. See that SOUNDS like happy news for us EvDo users. But the new rev means a new Qualcomm chipset…in your phone. And that means new phones. So EvDo may be getting faster near the end of this year, but you’ll still have to pay extra for it. And knowing Verizon, they’re not going to make the higher data rate a free upgrade out of the gate either. (Source: Ars Technica)
- What a coincidence that EvDo RevB comes out just as Sprint does WiMax expansion. Makes you wanna say, ‘Hmmmmm’. But, yeah, the Sprinters announced a slew of new cities to be part of its new wireless broadband rollout based on WiMax–5Mbps down and higher. (Source: CNET)
- AT&T & Napster do music for free..for a while. Here are the terms: Use AT&T for residential or wireless Internet broadband (wireless via a Samsung Sync or BlackJack phone with a 2-year plan commitment) and you get one year of Napster for free. Cool, but not super cool. (Source: TGDaily)
- Microsoft releases beta of Office Communciator..it’s a suite now. It has a server, a client, IM, softphone capabilities , LiveMeeting hooks and more. This piece has descriptors, light hands-on and a screenshot slideshow. (Source: ZDNet)

I figure it’s the law of telecom executive generations. each new techno release is designed to make one generation of telecomm execs filthy rich at our expense. so you country folks need to wait until they’ve fleeced us city folk and made this generation of execs stinking rich. then those guys’ll go buy yachts and the next generation will come up. THOSE guys will come out to the country and fleece you. just be patient.

Hey! I don’t live in the country…just not in a metro city…we have plenty of rich, filthy people here too. Ever heard of Stueller? We have a few big wigs that live here…maybe they can wring the neck of some telecom white-collars and get us some cool shit.
