- AMD not backing down from a price war. Even though its finances aren’t as strong as they used to be, AMD is still looking to war with Intel on the price tag front. Cuts across its entire desktop line, including the dual core set. (Source: InfoWorld)
- But we still wish the Core 2 Extremes had more competition. Seems that the new ultra-quick quad-core Core 2 Extreme Edition QX6700 and the QX6800 are fast, but will run around a grand to twelve hundred smackers depending on which you choose. You can push the suckers up to 3.2GHz, but we still wish AMD would get something that really competes out there and throw a few price-reducing punches. (Source: ExtremeTech)
- WoW players gonna keep getting hacked. World of Warcraft players have been getting their user account hijacked–and it’s going to keep happening. What they do is intro malware through the game, which works as a keyboard logger that steals their credentials. Then these twerps go into your account when you’re not around and sell off all your stuff. Blizzard can’t stop it yet. Only affects Windows WoW players, tho, so I’m sure Venezia will do an Apple jig. - SanDisk releases SansaConnect. It’s another Sansa MP3 player that’s most likely going to be positioned as superior to the iPod. This one costs $250, has WiFi capability, 4GB of space, a 2.2-inch full-color screen, and free or subscription-based music service from Yahoo. Also plays Internet radio and using the screen & WiFi can show photos or movies off sits like Flikr. Haven’t tried Yahoo’s music service so I can’t comment on that vs. iTunes, but it’s a pretty compelling-sounding combo. (Source: TechWeb)
