- Most AV programs can’t find Storm. PC World just did a quick test to see how bad the Storm Worm impact is. Turns out most AV programs don’t find it. Test included 31 different virus programs of which only Clam, Kapersky, and Symantec reported the little bastard. Back to Clam AV for me on XP and I’m sticking to Kapersky on Vista. - Samsung swings both ways, too. Samsung has reported that it, too, will be shipping a dual-mode Blu-Ray/HD DVD player. Kinda surprising since Samsung has been a big voice behind Blu-Ray. Player is the second announced after the one frm LG, announced late last year. Samsung’s box won’t be available until 2008, tho, and then only in Europe for starters. (Source: BetaNews)
- Warner in DRM flap with AnywhereCD. MP3.com founder, Michael Robertson, has gone live with a new music service, called AnywhereCD. This one is set apart by its selling of loads of popular titles in MP3 format with DRM restrictions–YAY! Unfortunately, at least one of the big labels still wants its DRM: Warner. Immediately yodled at AnywhereCD to stop selling Warner albums…or else. (Source: Ars Technica)
- Nontraditional payment methods taking off. Seems some of the nations largest retailers, including Home Depot, Staples, Wal-Mart and more, have been trying out non-traditional payment methods. Things like Bill Me Later, Google Checkout and Paypal, again among others. Slow at first, but now up 267 percent in just four months according to a survey by Jupiter Research. (Source: eWeek)
