Maybe I should call it NAB News Today.
- Early peek into Apple keynote at NAB 2007. It’s the National Association of Broadcasters 2007 trade show, and of course Apple is one of the keynoters. This is an early peek at what’s coming during that speech. My predictions–or maybe just my fervent hope? Some pointed words on DRM. (Source: Engadget)
- More Apple: Final Cut Studio 2 out and about. If we ever take Nerds of the North to video, we’ll most likely be using Apple’s Final Cut Studio software. The new version gets a new HDTV-capable codec that makes editing that stuff manageable on normal PCs. (Source: Gizmodo)
- Microsoft’s NAB shot: Silverlight. Apple’s not the only geek company showing off new glitz at NAB. Microsoft just announced Silverlight. Used to be WPF/E, and it means that they’re going head-to-head with Adobe’s Flash as the premiere Web glitz delivery platform. They do the dev tool job right and they’ve got a pretty good shot. - Some Auto Show news: Nissan & NEC team up. Can’t just talk about NAB. Auto Show in NYC all week. So Nissan and NEC say they’ve teamed up on building lithium-ion-powered cars to be roaming the roads by 2009. Following the Tesla model, I suppose. Let’s hope they put those batteries through some serious QA testing or we’re going to have green-conscious drivers blowing up all over the highways. (Source: DailyTech)
