How not to run a Web store
By Paul Venezia | June 5, 2007, 7:22 pm
One sure-fire way to lose sales is to have your entire Web store fall over for hours on end. I’ve been trying to order a specific cable and a few drum heads from Sam Ash for almost two hours as of this writing. If I could find the damn cable anywhere else, I’d be buying it there and never coming back to Sam Ash. As it is, the site is still bombing with Microsoft ODBC errors, and assuming that I can actually give them my money, it will be the last time. Maybe it’s time to move to a better platform, huh Sam?
UPDATE: 70 minutes later, still down. This is like having an employee whack your customers over the head with a bludgeon when they walk through the front door.
