About Us

We’re geeks. We live in the north. We’re large, one of us is strangely hairy, and we’re both IT technology journalists.

Oliver trapped in Geek HellOliver Rist is experienced, handsome, witty and unburdened by humility. Aside from his one week a month at the Bunny Ranch in Reno, he’s been writing for geek mags for about 15 years now. Computer Shopper, InternetWeek, InformationWeek, MSN, Network Computing, PC Magazine, PC World, SD Times, The Washington Post–the list goes on, though it’s not a list of magazines he’s written for — it’s more of a general sampler. Right now, he primarily writes for InfoWorld and MSN. He also manages a small and still-struggling software company, called FB2 Corp. Don’t ask him what that stands for, it’s marketing run amok. He enjoys gaining weight, Hennessey brandy, attention from women, Remy cognac, new technology products that actually work as advertised, golf and ruining his finances by living beyond his means. For compliments, marriage proposals or soon-to-be-deleted flames, email him here.

PV JagPaul “Sasquatch” Venezia has also been writing for tech magazines for many moons. He runs a lab in New Hampshire, does odd things with Perl, PHP, and LAMP stuff in addition to getting disturbingly talkative about stress testing network and server hardware. His house network is layer-3 switched and runs a 10G backbone. He has toured the world as a bassist, the US as an IT consultant, but alas, he is no longer an outlaw in Peru. At some point, he managed to blackmail a beautiful woman into marrying him and now has a daughter who deftly sidestepped his genes and actually wound up being beautiful as well. He enjoys gaining weight, drinking Lagavulin, making strange sounds on musical instruments and spouting geekspeak to anyone who’ll listen, and plenty that won’t. He also has a devastating addiction for fixing and driving classic 12-cylinder Jaguars which, syllable-for-syllable, accounts for far more expletives than anything in the IT world. For lifestyle advice, size 16 foot print requests or please to stop writing, you can email him here.
